I started Sad Girls Club with friend and fellow songwriter Vox Manicka. We were playing a show together and started joking that it was Sad Girls Club, since we both tend to write quite emotionally heavy-heating music. But we had the epiphany that it could be more than a joke. A lot of the other femme songwriters in our circle had expressed similar frustrations with finding opportunities despite all the live music happening in Phoenix. We decided to combine forces to leverage the power of community to create opportunities for all of us.
